The story below is a tragic case of Facebook Addiction gone wrong.
My heart goes out to this child's family.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A north Florida mother has pleaded guilty to
shaking herbaby to death after the boy's crying interrupted her game on
Facebook.

Alexandra V. Tobias pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Wednesday
and remains jailed.

The Florida Times-Union reports that she told investigators she was
angered because the boy was crying while she was playing the game
FarmVille.

The paper also reports that she told investigators she shook the boy,
smoked a cigarette to compose herself and then shook him again.

She will be sentenced in December. State guidelines call for
25 to 50 years, but a prosecutor said it could be shorter than that.

A telephone message and an e-mail sent by The Associated Press to
her attorney weren't immediately returned.

  1. I find this extremely worrying. If a woman is capable of doing such a thing to her own son, what more other people to random people on the streets, for example? What will happen if you're too addicted to Facebook? Will you kill your parents? Will you starve because of the addiction? I find that technology can have its pros and cons. Look at this funny video! It's hilarious and it's about Facebook addiction. Check it out at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSnXE2791yg&NR=1&feature=fvwp

  2. I agree with Syafiqah on this matter. It is just a Facebook game after all! We can still use Facebook but make sure that we know what is our limit and when to stop using it. I heard about this boy, he was so addicted to computer games that he did not eat or move for 2 days and then died because of poor circulation of the blood. Going outdoors is much better then playing the computer all day.

  3. I find this really shocking. How could a mother actually bear to kill her child just for a computer game? After reading this, I keep questioning myself: Is it worth it? My mother always tell me that it is just a game. And yet, you can see in real life that people are willing to go overboard and do such things just for a game. We must always reconsider and think before we act because we will regret like the mother if we act rashly.

  4. Seriously? I am sad that this had to happen. A human being always comes first before technology. She should not have done what she should. In fact, she should have looked after the baby's needs first. Do not do things you will regret later in life.

  5. That is so upsetting. This is definitely a case of internet addiction. A lot of people go on the internet and become addicted! sometimes, they miss sleep and thus get into accidents on the road or at home. This is very bad to the health and may even cause depression.

I once had a teacher who told the class about the many cases when people with internet addiction began to harm their family members! It's just so unfortunate. I am sure that they were just too engrossed with the game and just acted rashly. They will definitely regret it for the rest of their lives.

I used to think that using the internet was very fun and interactive. However, after reading this article, I can confirm my suspicions that the internet is extremely powerful. You should access it in moderation
